Childrens definitely have different temperments when it come to getting their haircut. In a way they are  as uniquely different in their haircutting temperment as they are in their personalities. However, for the most part, they're either "Cooperative", Mildly Reluctant", "Absolutely Reluctant", or "Totally Adverse". I like to think that most of the customers that I do are "Cooperative", only because I do my best to work with them, and make them feel comfortable.

In other cases, when they're "Mildly Reluctant", they show a little fear in the beginning, but can be won over with a little coaxing. When they're "Absolutely Reluctant" they usually need to sit on mom or dads lap, and have to be held in order to do certain parts of the cut. In the case of being "Totally Adverse", If you want the haircut done you may have to hold them securely. The last three categories, I as a hair cutter try to pre-empt, that is I work with the child as much as possible in order to make them feel comfortable.

The long and the short of the story is that, the haircutting experience goes easiest when people come to someone like me first rather than the non-kid friendly barber or hair stylist. Bear in mind, many people say they do kids haircuts, but actually just say that to get business. Indeed, It's always good to do your research before you take the childrens haircut plunge.
